How do recruiters add value? – Part 2

Recruiters add value providing both candidates and clients a clear understanding of what the market will bear at a particular point in time. Getting your resume to a recruiter may have value, but you need to treat the process appropriately. Recruiters like to help people who help them. If you have a healthy relationship with a recruiter, they are more likely to help you out when it comes to remembering your resume and remembering the value that you can bring to their clients. When submitting your resume to a recruiter, it’s not the end of the transaction; it’s only the beginning. And we would very much suggest that you find ways over the coming days, weeks, months and years to continue thinking about where you can add value to a recruiter’s life. Maybe that is by taking a look at other mandates that are available that you may not be right for, but you may have connections or you have some market intelligence which could help the recruiter close a transaction. They will take that very kindly and think of you on a more regular basis.
