Telephone interviews are the most common type of interview because of their relative ease when it comes to scheduling. The problem, however, is that they are the least personal. Aim to maximize the amount of interaction between you and your interviewer. Make sure that the interviewer has your resume in front of them, and that you have the same version in front of you. In a telephone interview, you need to make sure that you have an unencumbered space, in a safe, quiet spot where there is good reception. It’s challenging to do a call in a car or on speaker because you don’t know what reception is like on the other line.
