The Canada Infrastructure Bank uses federal support to attract private sector and institutional investment to new revenue-generating infrastructure projects that are in the public interest. By engaging the expertise and capital of the private sector, we will help provide more infrastructure across Canada.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Investments, the Senior Director/Managing Director is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, developing and executing infrastructure investment opportunities in Canada. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of project due diligence, financial analysis, structuring, contract analysis, tax analysis, negotiations, and working with external advisors and partners. In addition, the Senior Investment Professional will be actively involved in all post-acquisition management activities, including working with management teams of the portfolio companies and developing industry and public sector relationships as a conduit for sourcing new investment opportunities.

Accountabilities:
  • Assisting in the CIB setup of its investment capability
  • Developing a pipeline of potential investment opportunities by establishing and maintaining a network of contacts in the public sector across Canada and the infrastructure industry
  • Going out to the market to support the CIB mandate of advising potential project developers (public and private)
  • Sourcing and evaluating potential investments: conducting industry and company research, reviewing financial models, and analyzing new investments and appropriate funding strategy
  • Developing innovative approaches to support large infrastructure project development
  • Leading transaction structuring and negotiation activities for new greenfield infrastructure projects, including project advisory (where necessary) bid and investment structuring, term sheets, and partnership agreements
  • Leading syndication, asset management and asset sell down activities
  • Ensuring proper due diligence processes are maintained while coordinating with internal and external resources
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Infrastructure Canada
  • Building and managing a small team

Skills / Experience:
  • 12+ years of infrastructure investing experience
  • Extensive experience executing greenfield infrastructure projects
  • Demonstration of experience in working at all stages of a deal cycle as it relates to the infrastructure sector
  • Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Accounting are an asset
  • CFA, CPA, MBA are an asset
  • Experience with Government agencies are an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deal teams
  • Strong relationship and project management skills
  • Well developed analytical and quantitative skills, including financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence capabilities
  • Experience leading and contributing to transaction structuring and negotiation activities for acquisitions of operating and development projects, including bid structuring, term sheets, purchase and partnership agreements
  • Advanced knowledge in assessing financial, legal, and tax risks associated with the industry
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to translate complex financial inputs into concise financial analysis and recommendations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated presentation skills, intellectual capability, and time management skills
  • Bilingual (written and oral) is considered an important asset
