Vice President, Corporate Development

Our Client, a large, diversified multi-disciplinary engineering company, is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Development to join their team in Toronto. The Vice President will be responsible for the identification, development and execution of mergers & acquisitions and strategic growth opportunities in the US and Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This is an M&A role highly focused on relationship building within the engineering sector and sourcing of acquisition opportunities within US and Canadian engineering space.
  • Shape and execute on a strategic business plan for driving growth through acquisition opportunities:
  • Source and propose investments, partnerships and M&A transactions and build the business case to execute transaction
  • Coordinate deals e.g. Manage deal intake, facilitate internal evaluation, due diligence and integration processes
  • Propose negotiation strategy and rationale and business case to present relevant acquisitions to the Board.
  • Working closely with the Legal function, provide input and review transaction agreements ensuring that the business objectives are met

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related business experience in a Corporate Development/M&A role with a major corporation or a bank or private equity firm.
  • Proven success in significantly increasing revenue by developing, leading and executing an aggressive growth M&A growth strategy
  • Finance degree with an MBA preferable
  • Ability to work with senior leaders and other cross-functional groups to build consensus necessary for successful planning decisions
  • Ability to creatively and diligently gather data into financial models that outline business cases, projections and scenarios pertaining to potential transactions
  • Experience working within Engineering companies an asset
  • Strong quantitative, analytical capabilities, consultative and problem-solving skills
