Description

Our client, a well established and dynamic Montreal-based publicly listed company, is looking to fill a Director, Corporate Development position. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development and working closely with the Sector Business Heads, the Director, Corporate Development will source, evaluate and execute M&A transaction in North America, with a current focus on the US.  The role also requires supporting business units with the development and implementation of organic growth initiatives.
 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Presidents, VP of finance and senior managers of three sectors of business to expand opportunities and investments
  • Regular contact and communication with the CFO and CEO with all relevant matters
  • Be involved and conduct analysis related to capital allocation decisions
  • Lead small/medium size M&A processes or significant portions of larger transactions
  • Maintain active list of potential acquisition targets and stay current on industry trends by participating to regular meetings with industry related bankers/advisors/consultants
  • Review, evaluate and execute organic investment projects submitted by business units
  • Act as internal consultant/advisor to support business units on organic growth projects
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis for senior executives and board questions
  • Prepare, present and review materials to senior management and the Board of Directors

 

Profile and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or other relevant disciplines
  • CFA/CBV or other designation considered an asset
  • Minimum of 6 years of financial and transactional experience
  • Maturity to interact with senior executives internally and externally
  • Intellectual curiosity/Interest in learning on operations, technology and financial markets
  • A self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and a curiosity to learn the firm’s particular cross-sector or technology and financial markets
  • Project management abilities to support logistics related to executing complex transactions
